Job context

Setting up industrialization roadmaps for IPVF’s processes and technologies is of strategic importance for the institute. We have one dedicated R&D Programme, which mission is to assess the maturity of technologies developed at IPVF, identify obstacles that may block their industrialization, propose strategies to overcome them, and detect new PV technology opportunities in PV.

 

You will be working in a dynamic and fertile environment, in collaboration with different teams, and your work will be exposed internally and externally.

This job can lead to a permanent position (CDI).

 

 

Main missions

The candidate will directly report to the Programs Deputy Director of IPVF.

Her/his missions will consist in:

  • Conducting life cycle assessments of tandem modules to provide a framework for strategic decision-making purposes.
  • Project life cycle assessment into the future, e.g. by using future energy mix scenarios, expected future PV module efficiencies etc.
  • Investigate and integrate materials abundance considerations in life cycle assessment.
  • Investigating module materials that facilitate module recycling at end of life and reduce the environmental footprint.
  • Investigating and improving recycling processes for tandem modules, while identifying the conditions needed for a good environmental performance regarding materials economy (e.g. decreasing environmental footprint, increasing value of recycled materials).
  • Collaborating with other colleagues to evaluate the module costs vs. environmental footprint reduction and propose solutions to reduce the environmental footprint of tandem PV modules considering the energy production over its working lifetime.

 

Sought profile

Knowledge and know-how

  • Background in chemistry or materials (potential ecotoxicological impacts of metals or perovskite on crystalline silicon will be a plus).
  • Knowledge in photovoltaic systems (tandem and PV waste management will be a plus).

 

Soft skills

  • Fluency in English, knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Good analytical, synthesis and communication skills.
  • Curious and enterprising.
  • Autonomous.
  • Team worker.
