TotalEnergies is a founding member of the Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France (IPVF), an institute of the Energy Transition, and is looking for support on the environmental assessment of photovoltaic (PV) tandem module development (perovskite on crystalline silicon (c-Si) specifically), which is a key activity at IPVF.

IPVF – Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France, is a global Research, Innovation and Education center, which mission is to accelerate energy transition through science & technology.
Gathering industrial PV leaders (EDF, TotalEnergies, Air Liquide, Horiba and Riber) and world-renowned academic research organizations (CNRS, Ecole Polytechnique), multi-disciplinary and international IPVF teams conduct research for clean energy technologies. Supported by the French State, IPVF is labelled Institute for Energy Transition (ITE).

• Developing tandem module concepts/architectures (based on existing module technology), investigating module materials that facilitate module recycling at end of life and reduce the environmental footprint.
• Investigating and improving recycling processes for tandem modules, while identifying the conditions needed for a good environmental performance regarding materials economy (e.g. decreasing environmental footprint, increasing value of recycled materials).
• Assessing and increasing the lifetime/energy production over the lifetime of tandem PV modules to reduce the environmental footprint (in collaboration with other colleagues).
• Evaluating and optimizing the module costs vs. environmental footprint reduction (in collaboration with other colleagues).
• Conducting life cycle assessments of tandem modules to provide a framework for strategic decision-making purposes.




General profile


PhD in Environmental Sciences or equivalent





  • Knowledge in photovoltaic systems (tandem and PV waste management will be a plus).
  • Background in chemistry or materials (potential ecotoxicological impacts of metals or perovskite on crystalline silicon will be a plus).



Soft skills


  • Fluency in English, knowledge of French will be a plus.
  • Good analytical, synthesis and communication skills.
