We are pleased to announce the appointment of Gérard CREUZET to the position of Chairman of IPVF – Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France, as of 1 January 2021.

Gérard Creuzet began his career as a teacher-researcher in solid-state physics. After studying at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (agrégation de physique 1976), he obtained a PhD in 1978, followed by a State Doctorate at the University of Orsay in 1982. Gérard Creuzet is the author of 80 publications, including the discovery of giant magnetoresistance with Albert Fert in 1988.

At the end of 1987, he left the CNRS and joined the Central Research Laboratory of Thomson-CSF, then the Research and Technology Department, before becoming Technical Director of the Microwave Tubes Division. In 1994, he was appointed Chief Scientific Officer of the Valeo Group, then Group R&D Director, before becoming Managing Director of the Motors and Actuators Branch. In 2001, he joined the EDF Group as Vice-President Strategy and Development, then Deputy Chief Executive Officer and finally Chief Operating Officer.

Since leaving EDF in 2005, Gérard Creuzet has been an independent consultant in strategy and management, working for industrial groups and investment funds. Since 2012, he has been responsible for managing the international operations of the Ecoles Centrale Group, becoming its General Delegate in 2014.

Gérard Creuzet is a member of the Académie des Technologies.

Upon his appointment, Gérard Creuzet declared: “I am very proud to chair the IPVF and to put my experience at the service of an institute whose vocation is to offer the best in scientific research in the field of photovoltaics to companies that will exploit these advances industrially. I am keen to promote the IPVF’s unique model in order to develop, alongside the other players in the ecosystem, breakthrough photovoltaic technologies that will contribute to the energy and ecological transition“.
