What is it for?

Our mechanical scriber is dedicated to locally etch the surface of various materials.

Various needles (steel, SiC, diamond…) are available that offer a wide range of trench thinness and morphology. Groove depth can be adjusted through needle weight. The tool allows for high precision scribing as grooves as thin as 30-40µm can be achieved. It also benefits from an upgraded software for the definition of scribing schemes, with positioning precision on the order of a few microns.

How does it work?

A needle is translated on the sample to mechanically scribe a groove. Result highly depends on material ductility, needle weight (adjustable).
