With its four divisions, the IPVF technological platform gives access to state-of-the-art scientific knowledge, know-how and research tools for researchers, startups or corporations from all horizons. Our 40 000 ft² cleanroom houses more than 100 tools that allow for an original multi-scale and multi-parameter approach of complex objects. Thus we can provide a unique expertise far beyond the photovoltaic sector. If you wonder about a process, a material or a device, part of the answer is in one of our division for sure !

Vacuum Processes

The IPVF plateform houses several world-class instruments and vacuum deposition chambers that are dedicated to the growth and development of new materials. Various techniques can be used to conceive layers with new capabilities or specific functions: evaporation, pulverization, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, atomic layer deposition, molecular beam epitaxy… Metals, semiconductors, and dielectrics form new absorbers, buffer layers and coatings that will either integrate a functional device or serve as reference material for processing studies.

Chemistry & Wet Processes

IPVF is also equipped with chemical benches and wet deposition tools. We specifically manage the deposition of perovskites and transparent conductive polymers. Our perovskite modules reach state-of-the-art performance. This division is an asset to test the transfer of PV technologies developed at IPVF towards fully industrialized processes and industrial production chains.

More recently, we are testing direct solar-powered hydrogen production and build hybrid energy solutions.

Characterization & Modeling

In-depth understanding of material properties is a leading key towards performance. Hence opto-electronic characterization is a transverse backbone of our R&D program. Our platform benefits from wide-range capabilities to analyze material composition and morphology at various scales (Scanning electron Microscopy, XPS, GDOES…).

More than spectral response or conversion efficiency measurments, IPVF is recognized throughout the world for its luminescence measurement setups in 4D or with hyperspectral imaging capabilities on large areas. These allow specifically for non invasive material studies.

Prototyping, Integration & Reliability

IPVF also develops complete devices that embed PV technologies. We are building a new makerspace to ease their creation. Partnerships with colleges and fablabs in the Paris-Saclay ecosystem also enhance the integration of technological bricks on everyday-life objects. Thus we can directly address market needs and demonstrate the relevance of PV technologies to provide clean and affordable energy sources for sectors as various as the Internet of Things (IoT), agrivoltaic systems, Vehicle-Integrated Photovoltaics (VIPV), Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), energy-producing fabrics…
